I am a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CFIOSH), an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CErgHF).
With a first degree in computer science and psychology, my working life started in Human Factors, initially in IT and before moving to high-hazard industries. After completing an MSc in Occupational Health and Safety Management, I was surprised how often the effect of the physical and psycho-social working environment on safety outcomes is ignored, something I am still trying to change.
I provide health and safety training and coaching, management system support and risk assessments, alongside work in supporting cultural change. I have a particular passion for getting people to make the best use of technology to reduce risk. As such I like to work with organisations creating technological solutions to health and safety problems, whether it’s a structured database for managing chemical inventory to VR for training or AI for hazard detection.
I am an approved IOSH trainer for Leading Safely, Managing Safely and Working Safely, and can deliver face-to-face, or virtually (eg via Zoom). I have both a BTEC and C&G train-the-trainer qualification for manual handling, although I only deliver this in person. Other courses can be developed to meet your specific needs.
I am also available to provide talks and presentations and to participate in webinars.
