The Safer Choice

Publications

Since I’ve been freelance there haven’t been any opportunities to write peer-reviewed articles. However, as these topics still arise (as if they were new!) I’ve brought together here a list of peer-reviewed papers from the 20th Century. I will link some of them if there is enough interest (and if I have a copy) so contact me if you’d like to read any of them.

I’d also be happy to collaborate on articles and papers in the future, so get in touch if you’d like me on your team.

HSE funded research

Flow of Safety-Related Structural Integrity Information in the Offshore Industry, OTO 97/45

Hazard Management in Structural Integrity, OTO98/148

These reports were the result of research for the HSE Offshore Division. I worked with Malcolm Birkinshaw of the HSE, and interviewed people from design, construction and operation areas within the offshore industry to gain an understanding of how information flowed between stages. The relevance of this experience has become more apparent to me in the last decade, as the CDM Regulations and the growth of BIM make us look for opportunities of improving the flow of information from construction to operation.
